Pike Derby
in association with the Willow Area Community Organization
Feb 24, 25& 26
2023
Thank you to last years' contestants! The 2022 Ak Wild Pike Derby was another successful event! Thanks to the Willow Area Community Organization, our generous sponsors and the participants that made this derby a great time for everybody. As a collective effort we removed several hundred pounds of invasive Northern Pike from the waters of the Mat-Su Valley. 2022 adult winners were Chris Foster (Saturday) and Jeff Wendt (Sunday), and the youth winners were Orion Jenkins (Saturday) and Jacob Laskey (Sunday). Thanks again to everybody involved for making our event grow!

This year (2023) the Pike Derby will take place on the 24th , 25th and 26th of February in conjunction with the Willow Winter Carnival. The scalehouse will be located in the same place as last year, at the Willow Community Center. The rules will remain the same as well; All Valley waters are fair game, as long as you make it to the scalehouse by 6:PM the 24th, 25th and 26th. There will be daily prizes as well as overall prizes awarded in kids and adult categories. This tournament will be judged based on total accumulated weight of Northern Pike, and one prize for the single largest Pike. No restrictions on how to obtain the fish as long as they are taken using legal methods, in accordance with ADF&G regulations. All fish must be weighed and measured at the official scalehouse by 6:PM daily. Get those tip-ups ready and your family dressed up for a weekend of outside fun, awards and prizes. Help us reduce the Northern Pike numbers and have fun with friends, family and your community.
